A teenager led police officers on a 20 minute chase across the metro Friday afternoon.

It started around 3 o’clock in the 400 block of Southeast 2nd Street in Ankeny.

Police say someone called in saying a vehicle was suspicious, but when an officer arrived on the scene 18-year-old Jacob Aves took off.

He led police west across the metro eventually stopping south of the west mix-master near the Polk County line.

Police say Aves’ car stopped due to mechanical problems and a blown tire.

No one was hurt.

Aves is charged with eluding and operating while intoxicated.
