Ground will be broken next week on renovations to the Des Moines Social Club’s new location.

The social club is taking over the former Des Moines firehouse at 900 Mulberry Street. Once the renovation project is complete, the space will provide a theater, classes, art galleries, and workspace for non-profits.

The fundraising goal for the project is almost complete. So far, $3.5 million has been raised for the project but an additional $200,000 is needed. Pledges to the club can be made here.

The groundbreaking ceremony is being held April 9th at 11:30 a.m. and the public is invited.
