A 13-year old in western Iowa has created a unique business to help families in Haiti.

“My mom went down, and she came back and told me stories of what happened, and then that just broke my heart and I knew that I had to help those Haitians,” Kendra Michael explains.

Kendra started making duct tape pens and selling them in the community. She eventually raised enough money to take a service trip to Haiti. While she was there Kendra taught 15 Haitian girls how to make the pens themselves.

Since returning Kendra has continued to sell the pens, $0.65 of each one goes to Haiti to help families buy necessities.
