Letters have gone out to students who attended or applied for admission to Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, saying a hacker gained access to their personal information including Social Security numbers.

The hacker got access to as many as 125,000 records on March 13th that included names, birth dates, race, contact information and Social Security numbers, but not financial information.

Hackers used an international IP address to illegally access the website and got information dating back to 2005.

Kirkwood says it is not aware of any identity theft.
