A benefit to remember two girls killed when the van they were in was hit by a train is scheduled for next week.

The accident happened on April 1 in Batavia.

The State Patrol says Tara Lewman drove around a train that was stopped at a crossing, but she didn’t see another train coming on the second track. The train hit her van killing her daughters, 5-year-old Callie and 4-year-old Erica.

Lewman and her 1-year-old daughter, Jordan, were injured.

There will be a benefit for the family at the Fairfield Pizza Ranch on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.   The proceeds will help the family pay their extensive medical bills.
