The Blank Park Zoo will celebrate a special milestone this weekend.

A Japanese Macaque named Miya is turning one. This Friday at 10:00 a.m. the zoo will give Miya and the rest of her Macaque friends birthday cupcakes.

A formal celebration will be held this Saturday. The event will also celebrate Earth Day, and a portion of the day’s admission proceeds will be used to support primate conservation at the Limbe Wildlife Center in Cameroon.

Guests will be able to sign a giant birthday card for Miya, and keepers will present special chats through out the day.  For any visitors wanting to give a gift to Miya, the zoo says that Miya is a fan of Trader Joe’s Squishers, rice, whole grain pasta, and sugar free jello.
