The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office is releasing more information on a bus crash that injured dozens of children Tuesday.

Deputies say two buses from the Sumner-Fredericksburg School District were driving behind a farm tractor near the town of Sumner when the second bus rear-ended the first bus, sending it into the ditch.

The driver of the second bus, 63-year-old Steven Crawford, has been cited for failure to maintain control.

Paramedics took 43 children and both bus drivers to the hospital

Most of the injuries are described as minor but at least one child was held overnight.
