Des Moines Police responded to a reported carjacking on the city’s south side Wednesday afternoon.

An elderly woman says she was walking out of the Target at Southridge Mall when she was approached by a black man demanding the keys to her car.  The man then forced her into her minivan and drove to the south west parking lot where he stopped, ordered her out of the car and then drove away.

Police found the minivan a short time later at the Willow Park Apartments.

They are searching the area for the suspect. The woman suffered minor injuries and no weapon was involved.
