Mike Wasike (WHO-HD)

Community members are holding a benefit to support a victim of carjacking.

In February, 36-year old Mike Wasike was pulled from his car and brutally beaten. Wasike was in a medically induced coma for weeks and suffered brain damage. Three teenagers were later arrested and charged in the attack.

A garage sale will be held May 4 at the Zion Lutheran Church. All proceeds from the sale will be used to help Wasike pay his medical bills.

All the items for sale have been donated and include blankets made specifically for the event by Johnston junior high students.
