Special monitoring equipment will soon find a home underwater at Storm Lake.

Iowa State University will be placing equipment in the lake as part of an ongoing water quality study. The equipment will collect information on how wind and lake depth impact resuspension sediment on the bottom of the lake.

The monitors will be marked by hazard buoys at three locations. Officials are asking that the public leave the buoys alone.

The research will last through 2013 in order to measure the effects dredging operations have on the water quality of the lake. The information gathered will help increase the success of restoration efforts.
