Wednesday is starting off with thunderstorms across Southern and Central Iowa.  These showers and thunderstorms will continue through the lunch hour.  Expect a short break from the heaviest rain late in the afternoon before more thunderstorms develop between 8 and 10 PM.

Southeastern Iowa is under the slight risk of severe storms today with the main threats being large hail and damaging winds.

South and Eastern Iowa is also under a Flash Flood Watch because of the soaking rains expected through Wednesday and Thursday. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2″ are possible with some locally higher amounts where the strongest storms move through.

On Thursday, colder air filters into the state. Highs will be in the 40s. Northwest Iowa will see the rain change to some snow Thursday afternoon and evening.
