On Saturday, runners in Des Moines hit the streets in support of the victims of the marathon bombings.

IMT Des Moines Marathon organizers are hosting a run/walk event. Runners will meet at Nollen Plaza, downtown.

It starts with a moment of silence at 7:30 a.m. and is followed by a one-mile or a 6 mile walk or run.

“This is not a race or a training run, but rather a chance to show our community support for Boston the best way we know how to at this time,” race director Chris Burch said
