VEISHEA WEEKEND: Arrests And Hospitalization

Iowa State University’s annual VEISHEA celebration kept Ames and ISU police busy this weekend.

Crews responded to an injured teen after he accidently fell about five feet off a retaining wall. They say it happened at 207 Stanton Avenue. Officers found the 19-year-old man with a head injury.

He was airlifted to a hospital in Des Moines.

Authorities have not released his name or condition, but say they don’t believe he is an Iowa State student.

On Friday night, a group of people flipped over two vehicles. Someone circulated a picture of one of the incidents on social media.

Police arrested a Spencer man in connection with one of the incidents and are seeking the public’s help in identifying the other people in the picture.

From 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday, Ames police department responded to 204 calls.

They made 22 arrests, wrote 24 citations, and issued 12 municipal infractions.

Overall, police said that the weekend’s VEISHEA events went well.
