The Convention and Visitors Bureau is hoping some new commercials will draw visitors to Des Moines this summer.

Last November the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau rolled out their new slogan, Catch Des Moines, then they asked for help from locals to show off everything the city has to offer. Residents were asked to send in pictures, video, and music that show off what visitors could catch if they visit the city.

The first three ads have been rolled out in the Omaha-Council Bluffs area.

“The whole concept with this new spot is really about showcasing the city as something different and really highlighting all aspects we have in the city that you maybe don’t expect here in greater Des Moines.” Tiffany Tauscheck with the CVB explained.

The CVB says more TV spots, radio spots, digital billboards and online ads will be running throughout the summer in Iowa and Southern Minnesota as well.

The ads feature 13 local amenities including Homemakers, Prairie Meadows, Adventureland and the Iowa Speedway.
