BABYSITTER ARRESTED: Child Dies After Mauling

A four-year-old girl is dead after she was mauled by a dog in Prairie City Monday.

Prairie City police say the incident happened Monday afternoon at 300 South Marshall Street. They were called on a dog bite and when they arrived they found Jordyn Arndt suffering from injuries. She was taken by air ambulance to a Des Moines hospital.

The grandfather of Arndt tells Channel 13’s Aaron Brilbeck she was taken off of life support Tuesday afternoon and passed away.

The Prairie City Police Department says the dog was a pitbull.

Police have arrested 24-year-old Jena Wright, in connection with the incident.  They say Wright was babysitting the victim at the time and was responsible for her care.

Wright is charged with felony child endangerment resulting in death and neglect of dependent person. She is in the Jasper County Jail.
