Polk County residents should be on alert for scam artists in the area.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, certain people in Polk County are receiving calls from unknown con artists claiming to deputies and demanding payment for an alleged outstanding balance through a Wal-Mart “Money Pack.” The alleged deputy then threatens the potential victim with arrest if they fail to pay the alleged debt.

The Sheriff’s Office wants Polk residents to know that such requests are false and should immediately be reported.
