An animal shelter in southeast Iowa is now offering a reward to whoever helps police find the person who killed a dog last week.

The Fort Madison Daily Democrat reports supporters of the Protectors of Animal Welfare Shelter posted a $500 reward offer and say anyone with information should contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Shelter workers say the dog was missing early last week. A shelter worker who was walking another dog found the dog’s body on Thursday. The dog was missing its head.

No arrests have been reported.
