The date and location for the retrial of a Wapello County man charged with murdering his pregnant wife has been set.

The murder trial of Seth Techel will begin August 12th and be held in Mount Pleasant. The attorneys representing both the state and Techel spoke with Judge Daniel Wilson Monday to make the tentative plans.

Wilson agreed on the date and location, “unless I hear something from court administration that derails that plan.”

Prosecutors say Techel shot his wife Lisa at the Agency home they shared in May of 2012. He is charged with first degree murder and nonconsensual termination of a human pregnancy.

Techel claimed he was in the shower at the time of the shooting.

A jury deadlocked in the case in March, but the Wapello County Attorney vowed to retry Techel.

The retrial was moved out of Wapello County because of the publicity the case has received.
