An Iowa Falls woman is accused of lying about having cancer to make money.

Police say a benefit was held for 37-year-old Heidi Denio last March. A total of $50,000 was raised to help her pay for her medical treatments.

After the benefit police were tipped off that Denio was lying about the cancer.

After a year-long investigation she has been charged with theft, ongoing criminal conduct and forgery.
