Another Iowa Republican has decided not to run for the U.S. Senate.

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Bill Northey, issued a statement Thursday saying he’s decided not to enter the race.

The senate seat is being left open by retiring Democrat Tom Harkin.

While Northey says he’s not running, he’s already urging another Republican to run.

Northey says, “Congressman Steve King has been a strong conservative leader in Washington and would serve our state well in the Senate. Should he decide to run, he would have my full support.”

So far, only Democrat Bruce Braley has committed to running for the Senate seat.
