A pilot has walked away from the crash of an ultralight helicopter in Waterloo.

KWWL reports the crash happened just before 2:00 p.m. at the north side of Ridgeway Avenue, near the John Deere Engine Works. Emergency crews were called on reports of helicopter crash.

According to initial reports the pilot, 60-year-old Ronald Harris of Waverly, walked away from the crash. He was taken to Covenant Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A spokeswoman from the FAA says the investigation into the crash will be done by local law enforcement because the ultralight helicopter is too small to be considered aircraft.
