Metro realtors say home values are on the rise. The Des Moines Area Association of Realtors says the median sale price was almost $160,000 in April that is up almost 7-percent compared to a year ago.

The Association says a little more than 800 homes closed last month. “We are 330 closed transactions ahead of last year at this time with a total number of closed sales year to date at just over 2,700.  There are no signs that things will slow down as we enter the typically busy summer months,” president of the DMAAR Larry Pickering said.

It also took less time for people to sell their homes, with the number of days a home is on the market dropping to 103.
