Work is finally underway on improvements to Kinnick Stadium.

The University of Iowa Athletics Director says the new scoreboard and sound system will be complete by next football season. The Board of Regents just approved the project about two weeks ago.

Officials say the stadium’s old system was installed in 2005. The new equipment is being purchased from the same South Dakota company that installed Iowa State’s new scoreboard in 2010.

The price tag for the project is about $9 million.
