The Oskaloosa Police Department says a mountain lion may have been sighted in the city over the weekend.

Police received a complaint around 3:00 p.m. Saturday about a possible sighting of a mountain lion just north of the 100 block of Highland Avenue. That’s in the northwest part of Oskaloosa.

Residents told police they saw the animal heading northbound from the wooded area, but police were not able to locate it.

Police are warning residents about the complaint and say if someone sees a mountain lion they should call 911. If you encounter this animal you should slowly back away from it and leave the area.
