The sequestration is taking another toll on Iowa.

The U.S. Geological Survey says it must discontinue use of three flood gauges in Iowa.

Due to automatic federal budget cuts the flood gauges at Finchford, Humbdolt and Bedford are scheduled to stop gathering data Friday.

All three have been recording water levels for more than 30-years.

Officials say those communities and others downstream will have less advanced notice of flooding once the gauges are shut down.
