FATAL COLLISION: One Dead, Child Injured

One person died and a young child was critically injured in an early morning two-vehicle crash in northeast Iowa.

The Linn County sheriff’s department says the crash happened just north of Central City around 1 a.m.

Troopers say a van and a pickup collided on state Highway 13.

Investigators say the driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene, and a young child in the van was flown to a Cedar Rapids hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics also took the driver of the truck to the hospital.

Officials haven’t released the names of those involved yet.
