Ackley police say a Marshalltown man led them on a high-speed chase Tuesday night.

An Ackley police officer tried to pull over 20-year-old Jacob Catherwood because of an equipment violation, but he refused to stop. He turned onto Highway 57 and police say Catherwood’s vehicle reached speeds over 90 miles an hour during the chase.

Hardin County sheriff’s deputies and officers from the Iowa Falls Police Department helped out in the chase and used stop sticks to get Catherwood to stop. His vehicle finally stopped about two miles east of Iowa Falls in Highway 57 and he was arrested.

Catherwood is charged with eluding, driving while barred, driving under suspension, traffic violations, and equipment violations. He is being held in the Hardin County Jail.
