Just in time for Memorial Day, a boulder in western Iowa has been freshly painted.

Ray “Bubba” Sorensen II painted the Freedom Rock as a tribute to our veterans. He does a different painting every year for Memorial Day.

Sorensen says the Freedom Rock is a thank you to the troops in honor of their service to the country.

He’s looking to expand that message. Sorensen says he and his family plan to put up smaller murals in all of the state’s 99 counties.
