UNDER WATER: Chelsea Evacuated

Most of the residents of the small Tama County town of Chelsea evacuated after flood waters rushed through town.  The main road through Chelsea has become a raging river,  and this isn't the first time.

Chelsea is set in a flood plain, so residents have dealt with the floods before.  The biggest in 2008...and before that in 1993.  But this is some of the worst flooding they've seen in quite some time.  Most people here grabbed what they could and evacuated.

"I don't think there's more than a handful of people really that are staying." says Mayor Leif Morris, "Other than some people that just refuse to leave.  But most, like the families with kids, are pretty much gone."

The main roads going into town are blocked off.  Officials hope those roads will open again in a few days.
