Governor Branstad will get a first-hand look at the damage left behind by recent flooding around the state.

On Monday, Branstad and FEMA officials will be traveling to New Hartford in the northeast where the water is now receding. Then they will take an aerial tour of eastern Iowa before stopping in Iowa City and surrounding Johnson County where the Iowa River is not expected to crest until later this week.

Over the past week Governor Branstad has issued disaster proclamations for 47 Iowa counties. During this tour he will determine if the damage warrants a presidential disaster declaration request, which could bring is more recovery funding.
