Big Bother may not be watching residents in Iowa City for much longer.

Tuesday night the city council unanimously voted to ban automatic traffic cameras. The vote was sparked by a petition signed by more than four thousand people demanding such a ban.

The council says that the ban is not set in stone; they will consider rescinding it when the Iowa DOT comes up with new rules about how the cameras can be used.
