Drier and warmer weather is on the way. There is not a chance that people will not be busting outside by Saturday. Highs are going to be in the upper 70s and lows in the 50s. It will be mostly sunny Saturday morning…more clouds late and a chance for t-storms overnight Saturday through early morning Sunday.

As I walked outside for dinner… I saw the sunshine gleaming through the windows of our building. It was all I could do to not sprint outside to let the sun shine on my face. (Just had knee surgery two weeks ago..doing great, but not running laps yet.) But I was able to snap this shot of blue skies over the big tower. Blue Skies

Near Pella…it’s still flooding. Cody sent us this picture taken north of Pella along county road T14. It shows the river waters still flowing over an open field. Cody (do not know last name) said the river had receded around a foot or two…but was still making those fields look like Lake Red Rock. Pella River

Finally… You know we lost one of Iowa’s broadcast icons last week. Jim Zable died in his Arizona home at age 91. He was one of my favorite people in this business. No matter how long it had been since Z and I had talked last…it always seemed like we had just talked the day before. This button hangs on the wall of my office at TV 13. Funny how little things like this make you stop for a moment and remember those who have gone before us. A smile always hits my face. The same time there is a tug at my heart. Z birthday button
A celebration of Jim Zabel’s life will be held at Luthern Church of Hope in West Des Moines June 21st. Visitation is from 2PM-4PM. Service will be at 4:00.
