Two women were arrested after stealing nearly $900 worth of groceries and assaulting an employee.

Ankeny police say 41-year-old Calleus Orr and 34-year-old Tessa Davis robbed the Hy-Vee on Ankeny Boulevard on June 9. An employee saw the two women pushing a cart full of un-bagged groceries out to their car and asked them to show a receipt for the items, police say Davis took out a can of mace and sprayed the employee in the face.

Davis and Orr then got in their car and left the scene.

The employee was able to give a description of the car and the women were arrested a short time later.

Both Davis and Orr are charged with second degree robbery.
