Some members of the Iowa National Guard and their loved ones were finally reunited Tuesday after spending nearly a year apart.

Fifty soldiers with the 2211th General Support Aviation Battalion left for Afghanistan last July. Tuesday they were welcomed home in a ceremony in Waterloo.

The soldiers in the unit provided medical evacuation flights. They flew more than 3,200 hours in Blackhawk helicopters, helping with more than 650 evacuations and other missions.
