Senate Ag Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow and other Senators are suggesting the House bring up the Senate bill - after the House Ag Committee's bill was defeated Thursday on the House floor. Stabenow says the House needs to find a way to get a five-year farm bill done - and the Speaker needs to work in a bipartisan way to present a bill that Democrats and Republicans can support. She says a start would be to do what she's suggesting - because maintaining the status quo means no reform, no deficit reduction and further uncertainty that slows growth in the ag industry - which she says is totally unacceptable.
