If you’re a picker there’s an event in central Iowa this weekend that might capture your fancy.

Twenty-two shops in three counties north of the metro are banding together for the second annual Junkin’ in June event.

Towns participating include Ames, Boone, Slater, and Nevada and others.

The History Channel's American Pickers helps drive interest in these events. Denny and Ginny Burgduff own Vintage Pickers in Ames. They've been collecting for years, and recently opened a shop on East Lincoln Way.

Denny says he's seeing more men coming into his shop.

“Men like the automotive stuff, the man-cave stuff, the vinyl collectables, records, albums. Men are into signs,” says Denny.

Junkin in June runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. You can find information about the towns and shops participating at the Junkin’ in June Facebook page.
