A group of people in Story County is saying thank you to those serving overseas.

Jeff’s Pizza Shop in Ames is collecting items that can be used during deployment.

Organizers say they’ll pack the items in packages called “boxes of gratitude.”

“Individuals from around the community have donated snacks, personal hygiene products, games, toys and we’re going to send them off to military members that are swerving away from home to give them a little taste of our appreciation and love and let them know that we’re happy to have them serving and appreciate what they’re doing,” explains Brenda Freeman.

You can drop off items at Jeff’s Pizza Shop through Sunday.

Volunteers will package the boxes from 11a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
