Florida authorities say a suspect in one of their cold cases could be in the metro area.

In 2003, Petra Martin and her two-year-old son Uriel were stabbed to death in their Clearwater home. Last October Florida authorities issued two first degree murder warrants for 33-year old Gilberto Juarez-Hernandez after a bloody fingerprint identified him as a suspect in the case.

Police say that Juarez-Hernandez has family in the Des Moines area and could be staying here. He is described as 5’8″ and 150 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes and scars on his back, left hand and one of his left fingers.

If you have any information regarding Juarez-Hernandez, you are asked to contact the Des Moines Police Department at (515) 283-4824.
