ENERGY CYCLING: Saving Money In The Heat

An Iowa electric company has initiating a program to conserve energy in this heat wave.

Alliant Energy began cycling air conditioners Thursday at 1:00 p.m.

The program was initiated in the customers living south of Highway 20 and north of Interstate 80 including places like Marshalltown, Newton and Grinnell.

It means customers enrolled in the program will have the air conditioner cycle in 15-minute intervals. Alliant pays participants $8 per summer month to participate in the program.

The cycling will end at 7:00 p.m.
