Wells Fargo announced Thursday it is laying off 58 workers from its offices in West Des Moines.

The mortgage lender says it is cutting 350 workers nationwide because higher home loan interest rates are driving down business in its refinancing sector.

The company employs more than 13,000 people in the metro area.

Wells Fargo says some of the employees losing their current jobs will be offered new positions within the company.
