The victims from Monday’s drive-by shooting had been arrested last week during a fight in a Wal-Mart parking lot, police said.

David Lee Edwards and Norma Dawn Lashley were sitting outside of their house on Bancroft Street in Des Moines on Monday with their grandchildren when they saw a passing car’s passengers making gang signs at them.

When the car drove past again, two shots were fired into the air. Luckily, no one was hurt.

Edwards and Lashley had been released from jail after an August 2nd fight in the parking lot of the 14th St. Wal-Mart.

Lashley had allegedly been in the Wal-Mart with her daughters when she began following one of the men in the fight and yelling at him.  As the fight moved into the parking lot, Edwards left to retrieve a gun from his car, which he did have a permit for.  Both Lashley and Edwards were charged by police after the fight.

No arrests have been made yet in the drive-by shooting.
