SPECIAL ELECTION: Vote Set For McCarthy’s Replacement

Governor Branstad has set a special election to replace Iowa State Representative Kevin McCarthy.

The minority leader’s resignation goes into effect next Thursday when McCarthy will be starting a position with the Iowa Attorney General’s Office.

The House District 33 special election, which encompasses portions of Polk County, will be held on October 22nd.

House Democrats will meet Saturday to select a new minority leader.
