Police say it all happened at a home in northwest Des Moines Friday night.

When police were called to a house on 13th Street around 9:00 p.m. officers found 54-year-old Floyd Loggins Jr. suffering from at least one stab wound.  Attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful and he died from his injuries.

The victim’s father, 82-year-old Floyd Loggins Sr. was arrested and charged with first degree murder.  He is being held at the Polk County jail on a $400,000 bond.

Police have not released a motive for the stabbing.

This is the seventh homicide in Des Moines this year.
