A seventh term state Representative will serve as the new Democratic Minority Leader.

Iowa House Democrats elected State Rep. Mark Smith from Marshalltown.  Smith is the Director of special projects at the substance abuse treatment unit of Central Iowa.

Last week, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced he is stepping down to take a job in the Attorney General’s office.
