Ankeny police say the Code Red alert system helped find a person suffering from dementia.

Sixty-eight-year-old Louise Green walked away from a clinic last Thursday.

Police activated the Code Red system which sends an emergency notification via the telephone. It was delivered to homes within a two mile radius of the clinic.

Authorities say tips began pouring in. They brought in a tracking dog, which helped locate the woman about 20 minutes after she wondered off.

Authorities say the Code Red system likely saved the woman’s life.
