ANIMALS REMOVED: Welfare Investigation

Charges are pending against a 74-year-old Iowa man after authorities removed numerous animals from a rural property.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office took from James Hansen’s land near Independence Tuesday night.

Deputies and veterinarians took horses, calves and rabbits from the property. They also gathered information and surveyed the animals’ conditions.

An investigation is ongoing.
