COURT VACANCY: 22 Apply For Appeals Judge Job

The process to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Iowa Court of Appeals continues, with 22 lawyers and judges vying for the position.

Chief Judge Larry J. Eisenhauer is retiring at the end of September, leaving a spot open on the court.

The list of applicants includes private attorneys, county attorneys, district judges and even a former U.S. Attorney from Iowa’s Northern District.

The State Judicial Nominating Commission will conduct interviews of the applicants on August 21st and 22nd in the Iowa Supreme Court courtroom. The interviews are open to the public.

Following interviews the commission will choose three nominees to be presented to Gov. Terry Branstad. He will have 30 days to decide who to appoint to the position.
