A Des Moines woman will spend over a decade behind bars for killing a man back in March.

Kristine Gordon admits she hit Clayton Payne with her car and then left the scene. She was arrested two weeks later.

In June the 26 year old pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident and driving while barred.

Gordon was sentenced to 17 years in prison, Wednesday.

Gordon’s record is extensive and includes four previous OWI arrests. The third OWI offense sent her to prison with a maximum of 5 years to serve. Gordon was released after serving just over a year.

Police said since Gordon was arrested weeks after she hit and killed Payne, there is no way to tell if she was intoxicated at the time.
