Overnight construction is perking up ears on the west side of the metro.

For people living near 73rd Street in Windsor Heights and West Des Moines Thursday night should be the last night they’ll hear loud construction noise.

The Iowa Department of Transportation says 73rd Street/8th Street will be closed from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. until Friday. Crews are removing the bridge deck on the westbound I-235 bridge over the street.

The noise Wednesday night wasn’t quite as bad as the night before as road workers picked up construction debris from the bridge.

The westbound exit ramp at 73rd Street is expected to remain closed until early October.
