The recent heat wave has affected the high school football schedule.

Two high schools are moving back their first football games by one hour.

Ames and Des Moines East will kickoff at 8 p.m. Friday in Ames.

The two Ankeny teams, the Hawks and Jaguars will also now begin at 8 p.m.

Officials say the move is to keep fans and players safe in the dangerously warm weather.
